While booking a senior session for next fall, I was reminded of this beautiful wedding that took place in the summer or 2016. Daniel and Jessica’s wedding at Fern Cottage in Ferndale, California was one I fondly remember. I knew it would be a guaranteed good time with “amazing food” at a beautiful venue, and it did not disappoint in any of these categories. Daniel and Jessica are a fun loving and laid back couple, and this is everything I hope for when I photograph weddings. I wish for plenty of laughter, smiles, beautiful venues, and down to earth couples with big hearts for the people in their lives. These attributes describe Daniel and Jessica to a T. The day started with photographing the beautiful details of the wedding and the gorgeous Fern Cottage flower garden. Daniel and Jessica shared a sneak peek of each other with Daniel having the best expressions when he saw his bride to be in her wedding dress and converse shoes that fit her personality perfectly. We spent some relaxing, fun time shooting the couple portraits at the many beautiful areas located at the Fern Cottage venue. We had plenty to choose from! Daniel and Jessica’s wedding party were their four teenage sons, so of course we had to have some fun with the formals shots. : ) We were done with the couple photos in plenty of time to relax before the ceremony.
The ceremony was officiated by Daniel and Jessica’s good friend Guy Fieri, host of the television program Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives. It was a ceremony filled with plenty of deep belly laughs, and smiles. There was a unique touch to their ceremony when Guy had all of the guys’ Daniel coaches football with at Fortuna High, stand up individually and recite the lyrics to a song that expressed sentiments about Daniel and Jessica’s relationship. I loved the unique touch that included the guests being a touching part of the ceremony. When Daniel and Jessica descended down the aisle after sharing their first kiss, you could see their four sons high-fiving and hugging in the background, so proud that their parents had just married.
The reception had amazing food! A giant barbeque set up was wheeled onto the venue and was catered by Guy and Carl Ruiz of Guy’s Grocery Games. It was delicious! After everyone was stuffed and satisfied, the party moved to the outdoor dance floor surrounded by beautiful gardens with the sun slowly going down behind the trees. As daylight came to a close, we took a couple quick minutes for some sneak away shots which are one of my favorite part of a wedding. All in all it was a beautiful day! One I was truly blessed to capture. It was so fun reliving it as I wrote this blog! Daniel and Jessica, can you get married again? : )
