Dartanian and Emily met on a dating app while Emily was on a vacation with friends from college in the area Dartanian was going to college. On the last day of the short trip, they matched and were instantly VERY attracted to one another, but lived in different time zones and never thought they would get the chance to meet in person. One fateful day while looking up directions for her cross-country road trip from home to college, Emily was presented with a detour taking her straight through Dartanian’s town states away. She made the journey, and the connection was instantaneous. They spent the next few months desperately making overnight road trips to see one another, until they eventually decided they just couldn’t stand to be apart, and Emily made the move to South Dakota!
Dartanian proposed to Emliy on their third anniversary trip. Their anniversary is on New Years Day, and with both of their families living in different states, they weren’t able to be together in person for their first and second anniversary, so Dartanian vowed to make the 3rd one incredibly special. He single-handedly planned and paid for a trip to Emily’s favorite place in the world, Humboldt County! They stayed at an adorable cabin in Arcata and spent their days exploring the area, dreaming of a future life there. Dartanian took Emily on a hike to a surprise location, which ended up being Wedding Rock just a few miles north of McKinleyville. There was a photographer waiting for them in secret, and they had a beautiful private moment overlooking the coast! The entire experience was straight out of a fairy tale.
For their wedding, Dartanian & Emily really wanted to showcase and celebrate the incredibly special love they have for one another. They don’t live near almost any of their close friends or family, and have spent most of their relationship alone together. Their wedding and the entire destination weekend was their chance to let our loved ones witness the feelings we have for each other, some for the first time!
They met this goal with their summery, garden formal wedding at Mitchell Grove. It was a gorgeous summer day for Humboldt County. The food was catered by C & C Market, and their cupcakes were from Mia Bella. They brought friends and family with them to officiate, and be the DJ. Their wedding was very intimate with a small number of guests who stayed into the night dancing away on the dance floor.
