With your junior year now behind you and summer in full swing, it’s time to start thinking about your last year of high school and when is the best time to book your senior photo shoot! Your senior year will be full of unforgettable moments and special occasions, including your senior pictures. From final football games and dances as a high school student, to touring university campuses, your weekends and afternoons are going to fill up fast! As you start planning out your schedule, don’t forget to leave room for all the details that go into your senior portraits.
Also, with Covid-19, there are no guarantees about the fall and school closures, and SIP’s, so getting your senior session done over the summer would be a great choice.
The summer after your junior year is when senior picture season officially starts. Your first thought might be that it’s a bit too early, but it really isn’t! This is the best time to start looking online for a local photographer. While you are soaking up some sun, make sure to take some time to think about how you want your senior photos to look. This means deciding on a venue, the expression of your portraits and of course, going shopping for your outfits! It’s a great idea to have your outfits including the shoes, picked out at least two weeks before your shoot. This way, you have plenty of time to wear your new clothes and shoes to make sure they fit comfortably.
Speak with your photographer about any makeup artists or hairstylists on their team. If you like their work and they have an open schedule, booking appointments with them will be a lot easier and less frustrating then getting those appointments done elsewhere. In cases where that’s your only option though, make sure to schedule your appointment so that there’s about an hour between it and your photo session. This gives you a buffer between appointments in case you run into traffic or end up with an emergency.
Thinking about all of the appointment scheduling and things on your to do list can be super stressful! Taking care of your senior photos before your senior year starts can help alleviate some of that stress. Help your senior year run a whole lot smoother and start thinking about some of the details for your senior shoot now, so you can check that off your list before the school year even begins!
